Mercury is the planet in astrology which rules short distance travel, communicating and having many fast and connecting thoughts.

Mercury is said to rule the hands, arms, shoulders, lungs and nerves.

Due to Mercury's rulership being in the sign of Gemini, this planet can cause contradicting thoughts, speaking too much and having a lot of information on many topics - but never deep enough to master one.

Each planet has a period where it will slow down and cause it to seemingly go backwards. This is symbolizing that we all could benefit from thinking a bit more before we speak and having more of an inward reflection. This is called a retrograde.

Mercury in Capricorn will start its retrograde on December 29th, 2022 through January 18th, 2023. 

Mercury goes retrograde three to four times a year for approximately 3 weeks each time. Depending on the sign Mercury is in at the time will determine what all of our communication should be about and what we are currently having ideas on.

In those three weeks of the retrograde,  is a time to reflect and take a step back. We should be gathering information during this time instead of implementing those actions.

With this being said, and Mercury ruling communication, we may have a lot of past friends, family and acquaintances reappear during this time for talks.

You may have a proposal to make something happen before the retrograde begins but it is best to wait until after the retrograde ends to continue moving forward.

This three week period will gift you many revelations and ideas that you should ponder over before taking action.

When Mercury goes Direct, we may feel like we have emerged from quick sand.

We may feel it is easier to make choices and see things we once didn't see. Everything seems to be a bit hazy and unclear when a planet appears to be going backwards.

Once that period is over we will have a better grasp on how we truly feel and make less of a mistake or agree to something we are unsure of.

Capricorn rules structure and builds a blueprint. During this retrograde it is best to not depend on random ideas from others and acting from emotions.
